How to reduce credit card debt
If you want to reduce credit card debt, you are going to have to do some things differently from what you did that got you into that mess in the first place. In this post, I’ll share some tips to help you reduce credit card debt.
The first step is to admit you have a problem with credit. You are just like the big Wall Street bankers who made bad investments and now you need ot get out of the financial mess you made. Unfortunately, there is no bailout for us small time consumers.
If you are charging groceries and gas, then you have a debt problem. Once you admit this you need to resolve to incur no more debt. Resolve to not charge anything again on your credit cards. You can live by paying cash for everything. The debit card is just as useful as a credit card.
Next, determine how you want to get out of debt using the debt snowball method. You can either pay the highest balance card first or the one with the highest interest rate or the one with the lowest balance.
I chose the lowest balance so I could see one of my cards finally paid off once and for all. This will serve to keep me motivated when life gets in the way and surprises me with an unexpected medical or car bill.
Develop a plan to reduce and eliminate your credit card debt. Put it down on paper and see how much debt you have. Once you see this, you may be surprised you owe less than you actually did. Then start to work on your plan and pay down that debt. Get more help at How to Reduce credit card debt
