When you start working out and building muscle can you start to gain weight istead of loosing weight?

I started to work out with a personal trainer the past 2 1/2 weeks. I have been working out very hard, I have a lot of energy, my clothes look better on me, I feel firmer , but I have gained 2 pounds .What is going on?

its the muscle you could gain weight sometime but not a lot and remember muscles burns of fat

Muscle weighs more than fat. You could be burning some fat but increasing in weight due to your building muscles.
Give it time and you will see results. I also recommend thinking of your progress outside of the scale room. Measure your decrease in body fat, not weight.
