I am still in cardio stage concentrating on loosing, currently down 40 pounds but 20 pounds more to go before i am at a healthy weight, but am still overweight according to average height to weight charts.
I dont want big muscles and i dont want to turn fat into muscle I just want a good tone, good metabolism and know when is the best time to start concentrating on muscular rather then cardio vascular as regard weight loss.

The good news is that you cant turn fat into muscle as you were worried about. I would continue to do cardio intensive workouts and i would run a 2-3 miles daily. I would work out in the gym with workouts with high reps and high sets but at a lower weight because these will burn fat off you and help you to lose weight while strengthening your muscles and toning them. You won’t get huge arms but you will get some tone.
