My knees hurt after long bike rides (15-20 miles)...I take ibuprofen before I ride and then sleep with actipatch on my knees overnight...unfortunately, time marches on and the knees are getting older, but I find that it helps ALOT.

Yvonne

go see someone. i've had knee problems for years and have gone for physical therapy several times. just went to a chiropractor this summer who actually helped. they've attributed my knee pain to several things, but there are simple 'tests' they can do to see which muscles are weaker. and not only does having some weak muscles hurt your knees, so does having a bad imbalance. it could be pulling your knee one way, for instance. if i were you, i'd see someone and find that out. then if you didn't want PT or whatever, you could just do workouts for those muscles on your own.

good luck!

Luis

first, stop running and go see a doctor. He'll probably order some x-rays to find out the cause of the pain. It's hard to know what exercises you should be doing until you know what it is that you need to strengthen, if that's even the case. I may not be that you need to strengthen some muscles and you could end up doing yourself more harm than good. Your doctor may even refer you to a physiotherapist.
Please don't listen to anyone here who tries to tell you what exercises to do. If you're really serious about your running, you should do the right thing by your body and seek the advice of professionals following a thourough diagnosis.

back squat at the gym..it flexes the knees and hamstrings...there is also a good chance that you need a different running shoe too.. i'd look into that as well
