im looking to burn some fat off my butt and waist and i was just wondering if its true that building muscle (lifting weights) incinerates calories/fat if so is it necessary to do cardio like running to do the same thing?

Cardio trains your cardiovascular system. Helps your heart, lungs, and blood pressure.
    Ignoring that wouldn’t be good.
Also, lifting weights does help burn calories – but lifting weights burns glycogen more easily than fat. This is why you do cardio after lifting weights – you force your body to target your fat stores for energy.
Also, after your workout, replenish your muscles with some protein and maybe 70 grams of carbs. This replenishes your glycogen stores, meaning your muscles can rebuild themselves.

Your body will continue burning calories for up to 24 hours after a weights workout. And that isn’t even counting the extra calories that muscles burn by simply existing.

But cardio is important, so don’t skip it.
