Im 17 years old and i really want to put on alot of muscle and get big. If i have sex or masturbate will that prevent me from building muscle in any way ? I heard that you lose testosterone when you have sex/masturbate and you need testosterone to build muscle. Thanks !

    i think u do lose testosterone when u masterbate or have sex but alot at all.It shouldnt affect your muscle growth at all

    You’re not going to get that good results from weightlifting at 17. You should try swimming or basketball or something like that until you’re 21.

    At that age you’ll be denser and can handle weight lifting best.

    You would be stunting yourself, muscle and height wise if you started weight lifting full force at 17.

    I know this isn’t exactly what you asked, but you won’t get the optimal results for another 3 years.

    All the research points to no.

    My personal experience is that, when abstaining from sex and masturbation that I am:
    1) More aggressive and intense when lifting or playing my sport.

    2) Have more energy during the day.

    Figure out what works for you. Remember that it takes energy and nutrients to produce semen and sperm. So while your hormones may not be affected enough to change your muscle building ability, there are other factors that may indirectly affect your results.

    Don’t listen to the person above me about lifting weights. Keep working out, keep working hard, eat right, and reach all your muscle goals and athletic goals! There’s no reason you shouldn’t be lifting, unless you don’t know proper form.

    You can have sex often as you like and it’s not going to stop you from gaining muscle mass. I have sex nearly every day and I packed on 15 pounds of muscle by lifting weights over the past year and half. The key to maintaining good testosterone levels and gaining muscle is eating the right foods and getting enough rest. Do not eliminate fat from your diet completely. My sex drive is acutally higher than when I started lifting which means my testosterone levels must be fine. If you research you will find there are some foods you can eat that will naturally raise testosterone levels (ex Walnuts). Read about Arnold Schwarznegger’s life and you will find he constantly had sex during his heavy lifting days. Hope this helps.

    The only way I can think of where sex or masturbation would prevent you from building muscle is if you’re having sex or masturbating instead of working out. =)

    While you heard wrong they are not linked together in any way so if your really in the mood wank and lift at the same time :)
